Visit the Church of San Pedro - San Pedro (Peniche)

The Church of St. Peter Parish is located in São Pedro (Peniche). Its construction dates from the late sixteenth century.
The façade is divided into three main parts. At the center, is a narthex, with a round arch, about two square pilasters that support it. A little above this, there is a circular eyepiece. Even beyond this, is a triangular, ending the gable. On the right side of the facade, is a bell tower, topped by a spire.
The church interior is divided into two main aisles and a great central nave. In the first, the highlights are altars dedicated to Our Lord of Bonfim, Nossa Senhora da Boa Viagem and San Pedro de Alcantara, gilded baroque. In the nave, we highlight the main chapel, dedicated to St. Peter, and his altarpiece also gilded baroque, as well as several eighteenth century paintings depicting episodes from the life of the saint, such as Quo vadis? and the miraculous catch by Pedro Peixoto.
In the sacristy, you can find a baroque painting depicting the Holy Family, probably dating from the late sixteenth century.
