The Chapel of Our Lady of Mercy, located in theTown of Almargem the Bishop, was built in 1758 near Mount Marçabel. It is said that this chapel was built on the ground in the middle of the eighteenth century the British Royal Navy who sailed along the coast of Ericeira, have been surprised by a storm. Feeling lost his faith raised to Our Lady of Mercy, patron saint of its fleet. They made the promise to build a chapel on the highest point in exchange for his salvation.
